#1 - Use tablature actions to get your reading skills and finger movements to get better.
One of the worst parts of mastering guitar is being ready to read tablature effectively enough to make it really second nature. While significantly less complex than typical musical notation, tablature can prevent a small amount of a dilemma for absolute rookies, especially when coupled with rapid musical exercises. In order to master finger movements and quick reading, lay down a pair of finger actions on a sheet of tablature paper, and run through them swiftly and in different keys. A good idea is to practice runs through the primary and minor scales, using as many alternative keys, scale constructions, and string positions as conceivable. For example, run all through the E major scale from the E string, from the A string, and from the D string, each moment changing the scale shape and construction.
#2 - Gain knowledge from your favourite songs.
Half of the trouble for beginners is quite frankly getting the motivation required to truly do well at guitar. The trouble comes down to the fact that most newbie guitar songs are pretty dull. Instead of focusing on the most uncomplicated songs possible, play the songs that you desire to listen to, and alter the speed and advanced features to make them suitable for your playing abilities. Locate an artist that you love, get their songs using tablature or standard music, and work towards them over time.
#3 - Focus on the main skills first.
Sweep picking arpeggios might probably look and sound cool, but it's rarely used in the context of your ordinary rock song. The problem that faces most beginners is the illusion of real selection. With so many different techniques out there, it's so easy to start away at the most complex and impressive without having a real mastering of the basic play guitar techniques that make those capabilities possible. Instead of going straight to sweep picking and string skipping, focus on the basic movements that acquire those skills possible. Alternate picking, rhythmic strumming and basic left hand scale movements are good places to start.
